About

Leon Wills Stevenson born in 2000 from Knaresborough. Development through the lived time and experience as material. The basis  for structuralism is ever present within my persona as working practitioner; a way of interpreting and analysing language, literature and society, to focus on opposing concepts or structural elements which try to demonstrate how they relate to the entire framework. Coming into expanded practice, which originates from Rosalind Krauss who published ‘Sculpture in the Expanded Field’ in 1979 which set out a positionality for artists or designers to not be trapped by expectations of a particular form they are working within. As an approach to fashion design, it removes traditional modes of clothing and allows the form to be explored metaphorically to question the medium used to offer new perspectives and redefine the discipline.  Activism needs a multitude of self-organised ‘base communities’ or ‘small scenes and practices’” (Von Busch). Looking at this idea starts with the application of the practice existing within different communities who have no direct relation to one another, but the practice shapes a common social identity. Education at University of the Arts London (BA Fashion Design Womenswear), Leeds Arts University (Foundation in Art and Design), short course at Udk Situationist guidebook to every city. Participation at Vo Curations, work with Lore Archive, self-led installations and public space participatory works.
